Located in the central part of the massif Bjelasica, Biogradska gora is one of the three remaining primeval forests in Europe. In addition to the Biogradsko lake located that is located in the canter of Biogradska gora, there are also other glacial lakes such as: Pešića, Ursulovačko (big one and small one) and Šiško (big one and small one). The largest part of the park is the rainforest’s reservation. The age of some trees is estimated to be over 400 years old, some of which are over 40m high. There are many archaeological sites, religious monuments, necropolis, and particularly characteristic folk architecture – pastures and shepherds huts, chalets, mills...
The bay for which many poets have said that it is certainly one the most beautiful bays in the world. Historically this bay is a strategically and culturally very important place. The old town of Kotor that is under the protection of UNESCO and witnesses a rich story about people, objects, and carnivals that have a long tradition of several centuries, Perast – a town of sailors that made this region glorious thought the world, Risan – the capital of the ancient Illyrian state and the legendary Queen Teuta, as well as several islands each of which has its own story of the past.
The old historic capital of Montenegro tells a story about culture, traditions and customs that have survived to the present day: the Billiard room, Zetski dom, king Nikola’s castle, the monastery of Cetinje... This cultural core of Montenegro except from the town of Cetinje also includes the Lovćen national park along with the mausoleum of Petar II Petrović Njegoš – certainly one of the most important historical figures of Montenegro. After touring the town of Cetinje, and then climbing 420 stairs that lead to the mausoleum at the top of the mountain where you can witness the most beautiful view of a greater part of Montenegro with the whole coast, afterwards you come to the serpentine that descend all the way down to the Bay of Kotor offering a spectacular view that will awaken in you the most pleasant emotions and you will wish to come back again!
Monastery Ostrog is a monastery of the Orthodox Church, built in a rock high up in the mountain. It is dedicated to St Basil who founded it in 17th century where he was buried and declared a saint and miracle worker. It is the largest sanctuary in Montenegro and because of its history thousands of believers visit the location every year from all over the world and all confessions.
Skadar Lake is the biggest lake in Montenegro and in the Balkans. The lake is full of islands and peninsulas all of which have traces of history and valuable cultural heritage: Žabljak Crnojevića (15th century) – the historic capital of the old Zeta province, Lesendro – old fortress on a rock in the middle of the lake, Grmožur fort, etc... Clear water and preserved environment enabled the development of extremely rich eco-system. This is the only habitat of pelicans in southern Europe. On the shore of the lake there is a small village - Rijeka Crnojevića which organises yearly traditional festivals of fish and wine. Nearby are the remains of the city Obod where a printing house was located which printed the first book in this part of Europe in 1494 – the Oktoih. Besides enjoying the natural beauty of the lake, visitors can engage in various activities such as sailing, cruising and fishing in small fishing boats that represent a real pleasure, especially in the hot summer and spring months.
